Process This Negative With Your Brain; via @QIkipedia:
Here’s something that’ll blow your mind (sorry that it’s an ad): stare at the colored dots on this girl’s nose for 30 seconds, then quickly look at a white wall or ceiling (or anything pure white).

‘They’re impressive shots, but when I think about the fact these do document the building of the Shard in their own way, they’re somewhat in the same mould as those famous shots of the Empire State Building workers. The only real differences are that photography is obviously much more accessible these days, and that these guys are trespassers in hoodies rather than workers in the Great Depression. But hey - perhaps in that, they are just as much a sign of the times, albeit a more pessimistic one.’

‘A fascinating and heartwarming phenomenon, via New World Notes. I don’t agree with Wagner James Au’s conclusion that this showcases the power of a pseudomynous internet - it happened despite that, not because of it - but it certainly shows the selfless side to this web of ours.’
The two versions of the photo below are a great testament to the power of virtual community and user-generated content, and I’ll tell you why:
The photo on the left is the original, and was posted last weekend by a member of Reddit. “My brother and his fiance died in a car crash a few months ago,” he wrote, “and I just ran across this picture of them on the first day they met. It would be really cool if someone could try to restore it, so I could have it printed.”
More than one person tried to restore it — perhaps several dozen Redditors did so, putting what was probably hundreds of total hours into the effort with Photoshop and other post-processing tools. To judge by the quality of the output, many of them are almost certainly graphic artists and other professionals. Above right is the submission by “colacube”, whose submission garnered the most karma points from other Redditors. (But there are many more submissions of roughly equal quality.)

‘Cor! Thanks, Takeshi:’

How bloody gorgeous is this photo? It’s all very elongated and ethereal and lovely. I makes me wonder whether she has extraordinarily long legs under that skirt… or if she stole her elderly neighbour’s lace curtains and decided to sit up a tree and drape them over her legs (in which case her neighbour’s going to be rather upset when she gets home and her curtains are covered in bark and leaf litter and pulls). Either way it makes me want to find a white lacy dress and sit up a tree in a dark forest.
I love the position of her hands and the draping of her hair. What’s not to love about this? Oh, that’s right, it’s daytime. She’s not smiling and anyone who can successfully pull off a widow’s peak style fringe deserves bonus points.

‘I chose this one out of the Goths Up Trees bunch because I simply knew I had to share a link to that ‘site. The captions come across a little more harshly than Goths in Hot Weather, for example, but I still laughed my head off at the very notion.’
How uncomfortable this young lady must be, hanging like that. If that were me, I’d lose circulation in my dangling arm. The pose is different and makes me feel a bit weird. I know that if I were to dangle from a tree I’d probably undo my lacing on my dress too. This girl and I have so much in common yet we’re so different. Perhaps she has better circulation. I can’t really tell if she loves vodka because if she did we could be best friends. I guess I’ll never know.
4 out of 5 for excellent circulation.
